Value Of Volunteerism (2004)

NVPC estimated that nationally, in 2004, total annual volunteering hours was 35 million hours. The estimated financial value of total volunteer time was S$746 million. NVPC’s 2003 study of 24 organisations that engaged volunteers found that for 75% of the organisations surveyed, every $1 invested in volunteers yielded a return that covered the $1 to over four times the investment. There were also non-economic benefits. For example, over 80% of volunteers experienced a sense of achievement from volunteerism. More details of study are available in NVPC’s publication – The State of Giving
